Rydberg and<br \/>\nsome of his training wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>Just reading the story about J.J.&#8217;s past experiences on<br \/>\nthe web site is worth it, even if you don&#8217;t want the video!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"JJ Rydberg Problem Solving DVD\" href=\"http:\/\/www.horsetrainingresources.com\/dvds\/jjrydberg-problem-solving\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>JJ Rydberg Problem Solving DVD<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-size: medium;\"><strong>How well does your horse stop?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Does he just slow down and eventually stop?<\/p>\n<p>Does he stop at all?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The most important thing a horse<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> should know is how to stop.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some argue the most important thing<br \/>\na horse should know is how to move forward.<\/p>\n<p>I understand that thinking but in my book,<br \/>\n<em><strong>the stop is the biggee because a good hearty<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> &#8220;whoa&#8221; can save your life.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If your horse isn&#8217;t very good at it,<br \/>\nthen you&#8217;re just askin&#8217; for trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a good way to get a great stop.<\/p>\n<p>After you get your horse to stop, do<br \/>\nthis&#8230;<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>&#8220;Back him up<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong> a couple steps!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWhy?<\/p>\n<p>Because it cements in the horse&#8217;s mind<br \/>\nthat he won&#8217;t be going forward.<\/p>\n<p>Going forward is, of course, the opposite of stopping.<\/p>\n<p>So when you teach him he &#8220;won&#8217;t&#8221; be going forward,<br \/>\nhe eventually gets it in his mind.<\/p>\n<p>This is exactly what J.J.
