/>
antelope can do something no other animal can.

What?

It can balance itself on a point
of rock…

“the size of a quarter”

Astonishing, isn’t it?

Sometimes I’m amazed what animals
can do.

I’m still amazed at what horses can do.

The other night, I was watching a
program on TV.

They showed horses that were trained
to do all kinds of things.

One thing the horses did was jump in
the air with all four feet.

The front feet kicked forward, the
back feet kicked back.

All while the rider was on his back.

This is nothing new.

It’s what horses were trained to do
hundreds of years ago to help take out enemy
soldiers.

Still, it’s incredible to watch a
horse do this.

Truly, horses are capable of great things.

Do you know what your horse is capable of?

Truth told, lots of people don’t.

In fact, I find most people don’t know
what their horse needs or where there are holes
in his training.

By holes, I mean that there are specific
training issues the horse needs help with.

To know, you must evaluate your horse.

When you evaluate your horse, there are
several things to look at.

In fact, you’d be shocked what you should
look at.

We filmed Vickie Weigel showing how to
do an evaluation to give folks a good under-
standing how to do it.

For instance, Vickie says to start by
looking at attitude and personality.

Then find out what he knows as far as
his education.

When Vickie evaluated the horse in her
DVD, she got in the round pen with him.

When she did, she noted his ears were laying
back.

What does that mean?

More or less that he’s not happy.

It could be that he’s not sure what’s going
on today. Plus, he didn’t know Vickie (and she didn’t
know him.)

Another possibility?

He may be hurting somewhere.

A great place to start evaluating your horse,
then, is to check for pain.

Vickie started by running her hands down
him to see if he flinches or runs from it.

Will this be hard to see?

Not really.

If you watch you can see a horse flinch
away from pain.

Next, she felt the legs and messed with them
a little to check for swelling or soreness.

This is an area to be very careful because
if you work with a horse who’s legs are not used to being
worked with,…you could get kicked and hurt terribly.

It’s also important to note that the horse
vickie worked with was standing free in the round
pen.

Why is that important?

Because he can leave anytime he wants.

Why is that important?

Because if he’s hurting, you can tell he
wants to get away.

Thus, if you hit a sore spot then the horse
will flinch or may take off trotting…which is okay.

Now here’s something important to get.

If the horse took off trotting after this,
he may be sore.

If you didn’t know he was and you became
upset with him and made him do what you wanted
anyway,…can you see that you put yourself in great
danger?

What if your horse was sore and you got
cranky with him and saddled him anyway?

He could bite.

Buck.

Rear.

Or, he may ride fine until the very end
of the ride where his pain tolerance is reached
and just before you get off….

“WHAM!”

He bucks.

You go bye-bye.

Had you known he was sore you could’ve
avoided that.

Plus, if you didn’t know he was sore
you could think this was a problem in his training
and he needs worked with.

And in fact, that’s not it at all.

Can you see the value in knowing how to
evaluate your horse?

And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Vickie shows a lot more than this in her
DVD.

If you wanna see more about it, click on<br
