is, the<br \/>\nharder it is to understand and the less likely<br \/>\nit will be of any use to anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, I don&#8217;t like real complicated stuff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Less is more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0The expression &#8220;Less Is More&#8221; is a<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0very powerful horse training principle to<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0live by.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Any horse trainer worth their salt<br \/>\nwill tell you to teach your horse<br \/>\none thing at a time.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all fine and dandy, but a<br \/>\nmistake often made is teaching more than one<br \/>\nthing at a time and not realizing it.<\/p>\n<p>There is a coined phrase from Linda<br \/>\nBraddy who called it:\u00a0 <strong>Simple Math<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Linda Braddy DVD\" href=\"http:\/\/www.horsetrainingresources.com\/braddy\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.horsetrainingresources.com\/braddy<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Think of it this way.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before you could do math, you started<br \/>\nat the basic 1 + 1 formula.<\/p>\n<p>When you understood that, did you move<br \/>\non to Algebra?<\/p>\n<p>Of course not.<\/p>\n<p>You went to very next basic thing.<\/p>\n<p>And that was likely 1 + 2.<\/p>\n<p>And so on.<\/p>\n<p>When you fully understood these things,<br \/>\nthen you moved on to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>Makes sense, right?<\/p>\n<p>Right.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, that is exactly how we<br \/>\nmust approach teaching the horse something.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Think &#8220;Simple Math&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thus, if today you are going to teach<br \/>\nyour horse about the reins, don&#8217;t use both reins.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s too complicated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That&#8217;s not &#8220;Simple Math&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s &#8220;Advanced Math&#8221; because you<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0haven&#8217;t showed your horse what one rein means yet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Start with one rein<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When he gets it, go to the next step.<\/p>\n<p>Care to guess what the next step is?<\/p>\n<p>Two reins?<\/p>\n<p>Nope.<\/p>\n<p>Now you gotta teach the other side<br \/>\nof the horse.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0Just cuz he gets the left rein doesn&#8217;t<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0mean he gets the right rein.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>(An important thing to learn about training<br \/>\nhorses is that you have to teach everything<br \/>\nfrom both sides of the horse &#8211;
