“Suppleness + Respect in Your Horse”
To a degree, horses are contortionists.
Actually, they’re not “really”…but
people are often surprised by what they can do.
For instance, they can take their back
leg and scratch their ears with it.
I can’t even lift my leg above my waist much less
scratch my ear with it. Not that I’d want to 🙂
It’s good they’re flexible, because we
need them to be because we also need to teach
them to be willingly flexible.
That’s basically what we call supple.
When pro horse trainer Sam Burrell revealed how to
install an Operating System in your horse during a filming,
he showed the suppleness your horse needs to have.
You see, your horse needs an Operating System before
you can perform different disciplines.
What Sam reveals is the precursor to pretty much
any horse activity you want to indulge in.

Before you teach your horse the Operating System,
you need a good ground work system.
That’s important because by directing your horse’s movement…
“You Can Change His Mind!”
When you’re able to change his mind, then you can
affect change within your whole horse.
It gets him more willing to listen to you.
It gets his respect for you.
And so on.
So before you go teaching the Operating System to
your horse, he should be halter broke.
This means he should lead on a loose rein.
If you walk toward his face, he should move out of the way.
Same with the hindquarters.
If you back up then your horse should too.
If you walk forward…so should your horse.
If your horse “doesn’t” do these things,
then he’s not halter broke.
The control you get with your horse using the
Operating System is fantastic.
It just so happens that it’s a huge confidence
builder for you (and horse) too.
Few realize just how aware horses are of your lack of
confidence and how it leads to dangerous riding.
Therefore, the flip side is equally true.
In other words, when you’re confident your horse
feels it and relies on it.
So if you’re wanting a way to solve problems and have
more control (and therefore minimize getting hurt)…
